CSSA National 2012
We had the pleasure of attending our CSSA National 2012 in Ancaster, Ontario this past week and we were very pleased with the placement of our dogs.
We had so many ring side comments on this girl, I thank you.
Then it was our Shelamo She's Got Moxi's turn in the Open Black class where Kim Wendling stepped in for me. Here are some candid photos I was able to take.

Black to Go Please!
Fun and enjoyable weekend at the Petawawa Dog Show. It was a Timmies weekend you might say, and thank-you to those that did the constant runs.
We took out our Bi-Black girl Shelamo She's Got Moxi. She is now getting the hang of showing! Proud to say she came away with a RWB one day and yesterday Winners Bitch, under a judge I respect - Dr Robert Smith from Va, USA. We've shown 2 dogs to him 2 other times - one was when he gave our BPIS Am/Cdn Ch Shelamo's Prospector a reserve at one of his 1st US shows handled by Dr Sherry Lee in 2002,
he finished in just 13 shows in the competitive Eastern US circuit

A New Boy At Shelamo
Mucho thanks to Ruffleith shelties - Penny Woodruff - we will be co-owing this sweetie! He's just a doll. Very outgoing, always at my feet, gotta do what I'm doing, even if it's pick-up potty time :) He's reminding me so much of what our "Rocky" was as a puppy.
here he's doing a chase in the fields after our tri girl Disco (out of our Gralochs Blueberry Tart)(pic taken with my iPhone)

Introducing our bi-black girl, Moxi, all grown up. She's now 21/2 years old. Thanks to Penny for taking these great pics. It was an experience for both of us to photograph a black dog, the hardest colouring to get good pics of.

Our two pups from our Trixie litter are enjoying life at the Davidson's. After a hard play outside, some one's hogging the bed!

Our AOAC pups @ 2wks
Trixie's litter is looking very nice. They are now just over 2 wks of age and all eyes are open. The blues are still too young to determine if their eyes will be brown or blue, or one of each. All pups eyes at this age have that glassy 'blue' hue. As we check each one and as their eyes become open, we say "Hey there, welcome to the World!". We finally have a 2nd way of introducing ourselves to them. Up to now it's only been scent. Ears will now open during the next week.

SantaPaws Came Early!!!!
Our Gralochs Blueberry Tart gave birth yesterday morning to 5 healthy pups, with a nice variety of colours and sexes. They are sired by Am/Cdn Apple Acres Expedition ROM/C.

We've waited a while to do this breeding, and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Now the anxiety of watching them grow starts!
Merry Christmas Everyone! Hope SantaPaws is as good to you as he's been to us.

An Xmas Surprise is Coming
We've confirmed by palpation that our Gralochs Blueberry Tart is pregnant! She's been bred to one Canada's Top Stud Dogs in the 21st Century ~ Am/Cdn Ch Apple Acres Expedition ROM/ROMC. This breeding can not only produce blue merles and tris, but also bi-blues and bi-blacks.
Needless to say, it made for that all important decision, our family's xmas dinner will have to be held at our place this year.
Too bad ultrasound can't yet predict colours :)

A Great Evening With Friends
Last night we went to our friend's house, the Davidson's for a post-turkey dinner. Our super 'Kennel Manager', Mary-Anne was also there. It was a scrumptious, all inclusive turkey dinner, even the home-made biscuits that took a 'fall' in the oven were awesome.

Since they aren't far, and car rides are always sought after with our puppies, our newest addition from the co-bred litter with Margaret Pratt, 'No-Name' (right now), was brought along, and got all the oooo's and ahhhh's one could imagine! She's just 8 wks.

Marylou's been keeping our Shelamo Sugar Rush, "Rush", while he matures .... he too found couches to be the safe place.
A crashed puppy ... playing hard just makes you sleep.Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Snow Shovelling - Two Black Pups
Yesterday afternoon the weather was such that it was time to dig out the stairs & gates to our girls/puppy pen .... snow over the last few weeks has covered the stairs and drifted in at the snow gate entrances. I had the girls & our 12 wk old Trixie pups loose on the deck, supervising my efforts.
During the day, the sun light times, it's just me, so getting pics of these BLACK dogs isn't easy! If I try to get down at their level, well they are all over me! So I used the fact that I was lower, down the stairs from the deck to capture a few pics. Tootsi was OK with my shovelling and was pretty good at just standing at the top of the stairs and watching me.

What's up sis?
Our bi-black girl Moxie, well she's a different story! Not only are the full faced black dogs harder to capture .... I guess I'll be learning over time at just what angle the sun needs to be ... she was also the one that wouldn't stay still!
Gotcha in a moment of stillness!
Finally another still shot.
Back to barking at me! This was what the rest of the pictures were like.
