Happy 11th Birthday Ebony!

Today, a BPIS Am/Cdn Ch Shelamo's Prospector daughter turns 11! 

Happy Birthday Ebony, Ebee, Ebnoneezer CGN ...... and to the great years you've given your owner Mary-Anne.

 

OH MY!!!  Had Mary-Anne only know when she walked out the door with Ebony and offered to help groom any time, what an impact she would have made on us and our kennel .... all the delivery nights, puppies she's socialized, dogs she's trained for the show ring (telling me I had to use a high show show voice!), helping at dog shows over the yrs, handling a Special's male at a DC&SSA in 2004 with laryngitis, and especially many Purina National Dog Shows, like this one in 2008!

and finishing our Rocky sister Ch Shelamo Show Case in 2005 when broke my foot.

The laughs we've had .... one only needed a Depends, just in case!

And what boss would understand 'I'm sick today as I'm helping deliver a litter of pups!'

11 wk old BiBlack Male Available

We have a 11 week old BiBlack male available from our recent litter.  He will mature around 14".  He is up-to-date on his shots and is crate trained.  He's got loads of spunk, attitude and a friendly, zest for life.  He would do well in a performance style home, or a very active, knowledgeable sheltie family.  He certainly won't be a couch potato :)

Our All BiBlack Litter Is Growing Up

Our Ch Shelamo She's Got Moxi delivered an all bi-black litter on September 9, 2013.  The sire is BIS MBISS Gold Ch Serenity's Walk In The Park.

Thanks Giving weekend we started to take them outside on the grass - it was so lovely for them to learn to run and experience new things!

Nice Kingston Dog Show Weekend

Marylou and I attended the Kingston dog show this past weekend and had a great time.  Couldn't ask for better weather, even tho it threatened to rain on our parade Sunday afternoon.  Nope, it rained there a bit before, but then cloudy and the sun came out at the end.

It was nice to see a large entry of 19 shelties.  Numbers have been so low in our area for, at least, the last year.  We had as many females in competition as we have had in the whole breed.

Our girls did great!  Shelamo Bedazzle our 16 wk old puppy had fun competing Saturday & Sunday for Best Baby Puppy In Show.

Shelamo Rais'n The Bar came away with a 3 pt Winners Female on Saturday under judge Wendy Paquette.

Teaching The Young Ones

One of the many things I try and do in our community is to help instill being a Good Canine Citizen.

On Wednesday I went with Mary Lou (her girl "Sadie") and 5 of our puppies/dogs, to one of my client's Sparks & Brownie night for Doggie Appreciation.  We discussed what it takes to own a dog, proper care, why it's important to have quiet feet, quiet voices, especially around young dogs, and how to approach dogs with their owners and how to be a 'tree' and what to do, if a puppy nips them in play.  We discussed what to look for health wise - they were quiet knowledgeable on proper grooming and looking for fleas, ticks.

 Our 10 month old "Raisin" had a ball and enjoyed all the attention!

At 13 yrs old, BPIS Am/Cdn Ch "Rocky" lapped up all the spot light :)

and as deaf as he is now he showed them all his 'show show' moves to a tee - to say I'm proud of my boy is an understatement

We had the girls make a 'human x-pen' for the puppies.

3 puppies @ just under 7 wks, the girls learned the importance of being still, with quiet voices and allowing the pups to come to them.

I remember my days as a Brownie & Guide, and WOW, their uniforms certainly aren't what I wore!!  No more skirts, no more hats.

I hope we helped these girls work towards their Vision .....

 Oh, No ... Incoming! Hung up are ya? HA!!

 Well, mate ... this is your ship to float now - 3's a crowd and 4th one incoming, I'm bailing!

 I'm 2nd mate!!! Back off!

I'll just do a straight in dive, and come in right over the side!

dang ... who moved the boat? I couldn't have gotten hung up? Really ?? I thought at 6 wks old I could put it all in motion ... or not .... yet ....

Incoming!!!! I'll show you how it's done!!

 eeekkkk ... or not! Are you sure there wasn't in utero training for this?

 

Ok, now I'm in. I'll man the bow, you folks figure out the rest. This floating a boat is hard work.

News At Shelamo

Our baby girl, Yoyo, from our "Chinook" litter is off to her new home.  Here's her add on Sheltie Strut.  Here's hoping she's all Penny has had dreams of.

And our girl "Cocoa", Shelamo A Moment Of Tyme, went off to the Belleville show on the Friday, just before turning a year of age and was Reserve Winners Female in the 1st show, then followed up with more wins, especially a Best Puppy In Group in the afternoon show.  Thank-you to judge Mr. M. Bouchard for your lovely comments on our girl.
